Why does Chip Doctor recommend windscreen chip repair?
→ Windscreen repair is environmentally friendly. There are no old windscreens that need to be disposed of properly.
→ Saves the original OE windscreen. In a market filled with cheap, low quality windscreens we can not overemphasize the importance of saving your original windscreen.
→ Saves you from some disappointments associated with aftermarket windscreen replacement e.g leaks, vibrations, scratches, dysfunctional rain sensors e.t.c
→ Saves the original OE bond from the factory. Windscreens are installed robotically at the vehicle assembly plant and this process is almost impossible to duplicate in the aftermarket.
→ Windscreen repair is quick to perform and you can drive away soon after the repair is complete.
How does Chip Doctor repair a windscreen?
Our repair process entails a number of steps carried out by a highly trained and experienced technician, as detailed below:
→ The impact spot is wiped to remove dirt and loose glass.
→ A little hole is drilled at the impact spot using a glass-cutting burr.
→ The repair bridge is fixed above the damage spot on the windscreen.
→ The injector cylinder is screwed down and filled with a special resin.
→ The resin enters the fracture under pressure. Air is vacuumed out.
→ The resin is cured under UV light, making the damage spot permanently solid.
→ Excess resin is shaved off and the repair spot is polished.
